Long Time No Post

It's probably about time we get an update out on our little guy! Plus, today he's 6 months old.

I believe that last we posted here Crew had just gotten off of oxygen. That certainly made it much easier to get around and live a bit more of a 'normal' baby experience - much less equipment and supplies to haul.

Crew has done pretty well with his feeds, so he's been growing and his omphalocele has nearly fully entered his body where his organs should be. He still has his NG tube, but his O is basically flat. We met with his surgeon a couple of days ago and he said that Crew is still on track for a closure at the end of October. We'll schedule the exact day at the start of that month. Then Crew would have his double inguinal hernias fixed in December. That's the plan, and if it all works out then we'd be quite happy because we get all of it in this year's insurance!! We certainly won't be rushing the little guy, though, so the plan could change.

We've been working on Crew's feeds and he's pretty good to take ~60ml of his 75-80ml feeds by bottle. We still need to pump the rest. He's become exceptionally good at pulling out his NG tube to the point that we were having to place it almost daily. Now in all of his pictures you'll see that we have to plaster his face with adhesives to slow him down. We're evaluating options to help get his NG tube out as soon as we can. We'll see where that goes and will update once we're headed down a path for it.

He's now rolling over onto his stomach and it's not bothering him nearly at all. Next up is getting him to be comfortable sitting with the pressure it puts on his stomach. Once he starts crawling his occupational therapist will stop coming.

The last big milestone to share is that Crew's surgeon just cleared him at that last appointment to not need his Jefferson car seat anymore! 🎉 He hated it so much and is clearly so much happier about being able to be in the normal car seat that we bought right before he was born. It's fun to see him here the very first time he was ever put in the Jefferson, to two days ago right before going into his surgeon, then again in his new seat right after the surgeon appointment. Cute little guy.

That's about it for now. Thank you for all of the messages that we get checking in on all in our family. Love you all!
